Job Description
Core-Mark, a subsidiary of Performance Food Group, is a distinguished Fortune 150 company recognized as a leading distributor of fresh and broad-line solutions for the convenience retail industry across the United States and Canada. With a remarkable revenue exceeding $23 billion, Core-Mark has established itself as a pivotal force in the food service and distribution sector. The company prides itself on fostering strong relationships with customers, employees, and communities alike, emphasizing empowerment and excellence in service delivery. Core-Mark’s extensive network of distribution centers ensures a comprehensive range of products and tailored solutions to meet the dynamic needs of its clientele.
This position is a union-represented role governed by a collective bargaining agreement, ensuring that eligible employees benefit from a structured and supportive work environment. Health and welfare benefits are provided through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust, encompassing medical, prescription, dental, vision, and life insurance options. Additionally, employees may qualify for pension benefits via the Teamsters Pension Plan, with employer contributions following the terms of the agreement. For those employees who possess alternative qualifying medical coverage, participation in an annuity plan is available as an alternative to standard health benefits. The compensation structure for this role includes a competitive hourly wage of $29.00 during training, transitioning to a performance-based pay system that rewards each stop, load, and mile covered. Dispatch times typically fall between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM, with work scheduled Tuesday through Friday.
The role of Driver, Hourly CDL-A, is crucial within Core-Mark's logistics framework, serving as the frontline representatives who ensure timely, safe, and efficient delivery of food and related products. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, managing local deliveries, over-the-road trips, shuttle assignments, and overnight drive and drop routes. Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is imperative, alongside upholding company safety guidelines to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence.
In this capacity, delivery drivers perform essential pre and post-trip inspections, verify the integrity and security of freight, and ensure all paperwork and documentation are completed accurately and legibly. Beyond technical responsibilities, drivers engage professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to foster long-lasting business relationships and deliver excellent customer service.
The position also entails practical duties such as loading and unloading products, handling damaged goods or customer returns, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of equipment and delivery vehicles. Accurately recording hours of service and maintaining logs in accordance with federal and state regulations are critical for operational compliance and safety.
Core-Mark values teamwork and adaptability, encouraging drivers to occasionally assist in other departmental functions or take on additional tasks as necessary to support company objectives. Candidates must be prepared for the physical demands of the role, including the use of mechanical aids like two-wheelers and lift gates to handle freight safely. The company’s commitment to equal employment opportunity ensures an inclusive working environment free from discrimination. Core-Mark supports its workforce through comprehensive safety programs and opportunities for personal and professional growth within a respected industry leader.
