Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a distinguished leader in the food distribution industry and part of a Fortune 150 company renowned for its steady growth and exceptional service in the convenience retail sector. With a strong reputation grounded in empowering customers, employees, and communities, Core-Mark has successfully built a business generating over $23 billion in revenue. The company operates multiple distribution centers across the U.S. and Canada, providing a comprehensive range of products, programs, and solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of convenience retailers. Its commitment to excellence, safety, and service has established Core-Mark as a trusted partner in the food supply chain, ensuring quality and timely delivery that customers depend on.

The position of Driver, Hourly CDL-A, at Core-Mark is a vital role central to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the company’s food delivery operations. This union-represented position involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food and related products to customers, ensuring that every shipment arrives in good condition and according to schedule. More than just a delivery operator, the driver serves as the face of Core-Mark to customers, building lasting relationships and providing excellent service that reflects the company’s values.

This role requires compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards, including performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reporting any safety issues promptly. Drivers execute detailed checks such as counting items, verifying customer invoices, and completing all necessary paperwork associated with freight. The job includes operational responsibilities like hitching trailers, securing loads, unloading products, managing returns, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in vehicles and loading areas. Drivers must also accurately complete logs daily for hours of service to meet federal and state regulations.

Given the physical demands of the job, the Driver must be able to hand-lift and operate equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack product cases and freight, with weights ranging typically from 10 to 90 pounds depending on the location. The employment schedule is Tuesday through Friday with dispatch times between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM, and the pay starts at $29.00 per hour during training, transitioning to a pay structure based on every stop, load, and mile driven.

Employees in this position receive health and welfare benefits through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust, including medical, prescription, dental, vision, and life insurance. Additionally, pension benefits are available through the Teamsters Pension Plan. Workers have the option to participate in an annuity plan instead of health coverage under specific conditions. All wages, benefits, and eligibility rules are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement and Trust Fund regulations.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for drivers looking to join a reputable, stable company with comprehensive benefits and competitive pay. Core-Mark and Performance Food Group are committed to equal employment opportunities, embracing a diverse workforce free from discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, and other protected characteristics. The company fosters a supportive work environment where employees can grow and contribute to a vital sector of the economy — the food supply chain.
