Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline food distributor that caters to a diverse clientele, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and various experts, Performance Foodservice prides itself on building strong customer relationships by offering advice and support in areas like operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. The company not only delivers high-quality food products but also goes the extra mile to empower independent restaurant owners in achieving their business goals. As part of the larger Performance Food Group (PFG), the company exhibits a culture that values inclusivity, safety, and growth opportunities, promoting a rewarding and respectful working environment.

The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a critical position within the organization, directly contributing to the food supply chain by ensuring timely and secure delivery of food products. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes such as intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight trips. Their primary responsibility is to deliver or unload food and related products to customers efficiently and safely, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety protocols. The position offers a competitive salary range from $75,000 to over $100,000 annually, with uncapped earning potential including quarterly safety bonuses and unlimited referral bonuses. Drivers can expect a flexible 4- or 5-day work week with potential for additional days and approximately two nights out per week compensated with a per diem and overnight allowance around $145.

Additionally, drivers joining the team with over one year of CDL-A experience are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, provided they have not worked for a PFG-owned company in the past six months. The role involves conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring freight is loaded correctly and safely secured, managing paperwork, and maintaining compliance with DOT and company regulations regarding hours of service and safety standards. Drivers are also tasked with handling damaged goods, managing customer interactions professionally, and collaborating as team players within the larger organization.

Performance Foodservice supports its drivers with new equipment, comprehensive benefits from day one including health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401K matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company fosters a safe, inclusive, and reward-focused culture, emphasizing respect and recognition for its employees. This position not only offers rewarding compensation but also significant career development possibilities within a vital industry supporting America’s food distribution network.
