Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor that plays a vital role in supplying high-quality food products to a diverse range of customers. The company serves independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, building strong and lasting relationships through a team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts. These professionals provide valuable advice on operations improvement, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies to support their customers in achieving business success. Performance Foodservice is committed to delivering not only exceptional food but also outstanding service that goes above and beyond customer expectations.
The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is integral to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the company’s food supply chain. This role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. Drivers are responsible for the safe and timely delivery and unloading of food and related products, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards.
This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $75,000 to $100,000+ annually, with uncapped pay potential, quarterly safety bonuses, unlimited referral bonuses, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for qualified drivers. The work schedule is flexible, featuring 4- or 5-day work weeks with some routes requiring up to two nights away from home per week. Drivers receive approximately $145 per diem and overnight compensation, along with access to new, well-maintained equipment.
Key responsibilities include performing all required safety inspections before and after trips, verifying that trailers are properly loaded and secured, completing accurate paperwork, and maintaining the security of freight and equipment. Drivers also interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring excellent communication and fostering positive relationships that reflect the company’s values.
Performance Foodservice supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and various growth opportunities. The company fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture that values reward and recognition.
In summary, the CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a critical part of the American food distribution system. It offers a rewarding career for drivers who seek competitive pay, strong benefits, and the chance to work within a respected company dedicated to quality, safety, and customer service excellence.
