The CDL-A Driver position at Cheney Brothers plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the company's robust food supply chain. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday with varying dispatch times and offers an average annual pay of $73,348.74. The CDL-A Driver is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across interstate, intrastate, local, shuttle, and overnight routes, ensuring timely, safe, and accurate delivery of food and related products. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all State licensing and certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid DOT health card
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move product cases and freight
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 12 months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Meet all State licensing and certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Current or attainable DOT health card
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move product
- Preferred 1+ years foodservice distribution experience
- Experience with onboard computers and electronic logs
- Experience with hand-held scanning systems
- Customer service experience
Job Duties
- Communicates with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally
- Functions as a team member and performs assigned duties to serve the company
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections
- Reports all safety issues and repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices
- Completes all required paperwork accurately and legibly
- Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer
- Drives and delivers customer orders on predetermined routes
- Unloads products and transports items into storage areas
- Performs damage control checks and contacts supervisor when needed
- Verifies delivery with customer and obtains signatures
- Collects payment where required and secures trailer doors
- Secures tractor, trailer, and freight
- Unloads damaged goods and returns, completes necessary paperwork
- Maintains cleanliness of tractor and work area
- Completes daily log records of hours of service
- Performs other related duties as assigned
