This role is for a CDL-A Driver position who is vital to the company’s food distribution supply chain. These drivers ensure that food products are delivered efficiently, safely, and on schedule to various customers, representing the face of Performance Foodservice to clients and partners. The driver’s tasks include driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on local, intrastate, interstate, overnight, and over-the-road routes. CDL-A Drivers must comply thoroughly with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintain detailed documentation and records related to deliveries, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, secure freight properly, and manage professional customer interactions. This job involves physical tasks such as loading, unloading, and handling freight up to 90 pounds, requiring the use of hand trucks, lift gates, and other equipment. Working hours cover 10-hour shifts typically between midnight and early morning, designed around a five-day workweek excluding Sundays but with flexible off days throughout Monday to Saturday. The driver may be required to take team routes or overnight layovers on specific routes. Compensation is competitive, starting at $80,000 annually with additional quarterly safety bonuses available. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Valid CDL-A license
- At least 12 months commercial driving experience
- Meet all state licensing or certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Current or ability to obtain DOT health card
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move freight weighing between 10 and 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Valid CDL-A license
- At least 12 months commercial driving experience
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check

- Attain or have valid current DOT health card or able to secure one
- Able to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move product cases weighing 10-90 pounds
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor, truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight, perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
- Ensure tractor, trailer and freight are locked and secured at all times, unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork
- Comply with daily record-keeping and hours of service requirements adhering to DOT, state, and company policies
- Uphold overall safety standards and follow guidelines for proper handling of freight throughout the delivery process
- Perform other duties as assigned
