Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline distributor dedicated to serving a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a solid reputation built through years of service excellence, the company’s team—composed of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts—works closely with clients to provide tailored advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and various strategies to boost business success. This customer-centric approach not only delivers quality food but also supports independent restaurant owners and other clients in achieving their business goals and dreams.
The company culture is grounded in inclusivity, respect, and recognition, creating a safe and motivating workplace environment. Employees enjoy competitive pay and extensive benefits, starting from day one, including health and wellness programs, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and unlimited referral bonuses. There are growth opportunities for employees who dedicate themselves to performing essential work that supports America’s complex food distribution system.
The role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is vital to maintaining the seamless flow of food products across the country’s supply chain. The driver is the company’s front line and the face that customers interact with directly, thereby playing a key role in building and nurturing customer relationships. This position requires driving a tractor trailer or straight truck locally and over-the-road (OTR) across interstate and intrastate routes, including shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop assignments. The driver is responsible for timely deliveries of food and food-related products, ensuring that all items arrive in excellent condition while strictly adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
This role offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $100,000+ annually with uncapped earning potential. Drivers benefit from quarterly safety bonuses, frequent referral incentives, per diem and overnight compensation of approximately $145, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for qualified drivers with at least one year of CDL A driving experience. The position typically follows a flexible schedule with a 4- or 5-day workweek, including opportunities to work additional days and up to two nights out per week. Employees will also have access to new and well-maintained equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
The primary responsibilities of the delivery driver include conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle and trailer, ensuring all freight is properly loaded, secured, and matches customer invoices, and managing all required paperwork accurately. The driver communicates professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues to provide excellent service, adheres to safety standards, and reports any hazards or vehicle issues immediately. The role also requires physically loading and unloading products, managing damaged goods, collecting payments where necessary, and maintaining clean and organized work areas. Maintaining detailed records of hours of service and compliance with federal and state regulations is also a critical aspect of the position.
Overall, this role is ideal for motivated individuals who meet the required qualifications and seek a dynamic work environment with rewarding compensation and comprehensive benefits. Performance Foodservice celebrates diversity and offers equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. Join Performance Foodservice and become part of a team committed to delivering the goods and driving success for both customers and employees.
