It prides itself on maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive workplace culture where employees feel motivated and recognized for their contributions.
This particular employment opportunity is for a CDL-A Driver position within Cheney Brothers. This role is an essential part of the food distribution supply chain, responsible for ensuring that food and food-related products reach customers punctually and in pristine condition. The position offers a competitive daily minimum pay of $270.00 with an average annual salary ranging between $85,000 and $100,000, along with additional performance-based bonuses. Work schedules typically run Monday through Friday, occasionally including rotating Saturdays, with dispatch starting as early as 3:00 a.m. This full-time position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to execute local, intrastate, interstate, shuttle, overnight, or drive-and-drop deliveries, always complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
The CDL-A Driver acts as the face of Cheney Brothers when interacting directly with customers and vendors, embodying professionalism and fostering strong relationships. Drivers are not only tasked with the safe and timely delivery of goods but also with various operational responsibilities such as performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining safety standards, managing freight inventory, handling delivery paperwork accurately, securing loads, and addressing customer inquiries or concerns swiftly and courteously. The role requires physical capability to handle heavy lifting and use equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move product cases typically ranging from 10 to 90 pounds, depending on the location.
Drivers are expected to contribute as team members within the logistics department, assisting in various functions to best serve the company. The company emphasizes a culture of safety and compliance, requiring drivers to report any hazards or equipment issues promptly and adhere strictly to DOT guidelines. The role also includes general housekeeping duties related to the tractor and trailers, ensuring a clean, organized work environment.
