With a solid reputation for empowering customers, employees, and communities, Core-Mark stands as the largest and most comprehensive marketer of consumer goods across North America, covering the United States and Canada. Offering an extensive array of products, programs, and solutions designed to meet the dynamic needs of convenience operators, the company plays an essential role in supporting retail operations in this sector. Core-Mark's commitment to excellence is further reflected in its inclusive culture and dedication to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants, maintaining high standards of workplace respect, diversity, and safety.
The role of the Driver, Hourly CDL-A, is pivotal within Core-Mark's operations and the larger food supply chain in the United States. Delivery drivers at Core-Mark are entrusted with the critical responsibility of ensuring that food and foodservice products reach customers promptly, safely, and in excellent condition. Beyond just transportation, drivers serve as the frontline representatives of the company, often building long-lasting relationships with clients through professional interaction and reliable service. This position involves operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks within intrastate and interstate boundaries, covering local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop delivery routes. Drivers play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the supply chain by adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety guidelines.
The position offers competitive compensation with component pay up to $3,600 bi-weekly, supplemented by monthly and annual bonuses. The work schedule promotes work-life balance through a four-day workweek and an early start time of 5:00 AM, aligning with operational demands and customer needs. Safety is a paramount concern in this role, with drivers responsible for thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of their vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards. They handle various logistical tasks, including loading and unloading freight, conducting product count checks, securing freight and equipment, and managing all required delivery documentation with accuracy. In addition to transporting goods, drivers also manage customer transactions by collecting payments where required and verifying delivery receipt confirmations.
Professionalism and teamwork are key components of the role, as drivers interact regularly with customers, vendors, and colleagues, fostering a respectful and productive working environment. Additional duties include maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicle and loading dock areas, completing all paperwork diligently, and reporting any operational or safety issues to supervisors promptly. Drivers are expected to carry out other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the company’s overall mission and service excellence.
In summary, the Driver, Hourly CDL-A position at Core-Mark offers a rewarding and vital opportunity within the food distribution system, combining competitive pay and benefits with a supportive, safe, and inclusive workplace culture. Individuals in this role contribute significantly to ensuring the nation's food supply chain remains efficient, reliable, and customer-focused, embodying the company’s values every step of the way.
