The Delivery Driver role at Core-Mark is essential to sustaining the smooth operation of America’s food distribution system. These professionals play a crucial role in ensuring that food and food-related products arrive at customer destinations safely, timely, and in excellent condition. The position is home daily and offers a Tuesday through Saturday schedule with available AM and PM shifts. This role has a competitive pay scale of up to $95,000 per year, making it an attractive opportunity for qualified candidates. The delivery drivers at Core-Mark are more than just transporters; they are the face of the company to clients, building long-lasting relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role involves operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop deliveries.
Beyond simply driving, the role requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies to maintain safety and compliance at all times. Drivers are responsible for conducting thorough pre- and post-trip safety inspections, reporting needed repairs, verifying the proper loading and securing of cargo, and managing all related paperwork with accuracy. In addition, drivers interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, answering queries and collaborating effectively to enhance overall operations. Physical demands of the job include hand-lifting and utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers, lift gates, and other machinery to handle freight cases of varying weights.
Core-Mark’s Delivery Drivers also perform inventory checks, ensure product integrity through damage control, verify deliveries with customers including obtaining signatures and collecting payments when required, and complete daily logs in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and securing vehicles and trailers at the end of their shifts. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and excellent customer service, along with the ability to operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid CDL-A driver’s license
- Minimum 21 years of age
- At least 1 year of route delivery experience with commercial motor vehicles
- Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- Ability to pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Successful completion of road test
- Valid DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one
- Physical ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move/stack freight cases
- Willingness to adhere to DOT safety regulations and company policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- Valid CDL-A must be 21+ years of age
- 1+ years of route delivery experience in a CMV
- Meets all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- Product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds depending on location
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately reports all safety hazards
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects money (cash or checks) where required
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters it in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- Performs other related duties as assigned
