Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- valid Class A commercial driver’s license
- minimum two years of city tractor trailer driving experience or one year plus accredited driving school diploma
- hazardous material and tank endorsement or willingness to obtain
- clean driving record without disqualifying violations or suspensions within past 36 months
- pass DOT physical
- negative pre-employment drug screen
- consent to obtain motor vehicle record and safety performance history
- ability to perform physical requirements of the job including lifting and securing freight
- ability to comply with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations
- willingness to undergo background and work history verification
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years of age
- two years of verifiable driving experience or one year plus approved driving school diploma
- pass US Cargo driving test
- possess or obtain hazardous material and tank endorsement within 90 days if applicable
- hold one valid driver’s license from state of residence
- no driving license suspension or revocation in last 36 months
- no major citations or convictions related to DUI, reckless driving, hit and run, felony use of vehicle, or other specified offenses in last 36 months
- no more than three motor vehicle violations or at-fault accidents in last 36 months
- pass Department of Transportation physical exam
- consent to pre-employment drug screen and negative controlled substance and alcohol results from prior employers
- no refusal of drug or alcohol testing in last 36 months
- no open violations in FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
- complete application fully
- consent to ten-year work history check
- satisfactory roadside inspection review
Job Duties
- Drive a commercial vehicle safely while picking up and delivering general freight
- load and unload trailer individually or with dockworkers assistance using mechanical equipment when available
- perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight
- secure freight using strapping or other methods as required
- inspect vehicle for defects and operating conditions according to law and company policy
- comply with all Federal requirements for transporting Hazardous Materials
- drive tractor/trailer within regulatory hours of service limitations
- maintain records for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver logs
- perform all duties according to company policies and federal, state, and local regulations for safe vehicle operation
