The role of the Class A CDL Route Driver at Airgas based in Indianapolis, IN, involves ensuring the safe transportation, delivery, and management of compressed gas cylinders and related products. This position operates Monday through Friday with a start time of 6 am, allowing drivers to be home daily. Drivers will handle a Class A Hazmat vehicle and perform comprehensive vehicle inspections before and after trips to maintain safety and compliance. Job Requirements
- Must have a valid Class A driver's license
- Valid medical examiner's card
- Must have the Hazmat endorsement or be able to obtain the endorsement within 60 days of being hired
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have one year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five years
- Successful completion of Airgas background and motor vehicle check
- DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required
- Ability to routinely lift or move around 25 to 75 lbs and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures
- Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace
- Adherence to safety regulations and policies
- Flexible to work overtime as needed

Job Duties
- Operate a Class A Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders as well as hard goods along designated routes
- Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure complete satisfaction
- Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures
- Handle the loading and unloading of all materials
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections noting any issues to ensure full safety compliance and maintaining the vehicle's condition
- Maintain a professional appearance and serve as a representative of the company during all deliveries
