Job Description

Universal Intermodal is a prominent logistics and transportation company operating across the United States with a focus on servicing major US ports and intermodal rail ramps. With 40 terminals and eight container yards strategically located nationwide, Universal Intermodal is committed to providing comprehensive domestic door-to-door drayage services to and from ports, rail terminals, and customer facilities. The company specializes in offering chassis, containers, drayage, and associated services for imports, exports, and domestic freight transportation, making it a key player in the logistics and supply chain industry.

One of the pivotal locations for Universal Intermodal's operations is its Jacksonville, Florida terminal, situated at 1700 Flag Street, building #4. This terminal is central to managing intermodal freight flow in the southeastern United States. The company is currently seeking experienced CDL-A Owner Operator Truck Drivers to join its team at this Jacksonville terminal. This role is essential as it directly impacts the company's ability to deliver freight safely and timely, thereby maintaining its stellar reputation for quality and reliability in freight handling and transportation.

The position offers an attractive compensation package, with gross pay reaching up to $800.00 per day. Drivers who join this team benefit from a work schedule that allows them to be home daily, offering a balanced work-life dynamic which is often a critical consideration for many professionals in the trucking industry. Additionally, the freight handled is characterized as light touch, suggesting fewer loading and unloading responsibilities, which can contribute to reduced stress and a more focused driving experience.

The pay structure is competitive, providing up to 70% of the linehaul earnings, with a pay week running from Sunday to Saturday and settlements completed by the following Friday. Notably, the company emphasizes no forced dispatch, which means drivers have a degree of control over their assignments, enhancing job satisfaction and operational flexibility. This role is ideal for owner-operators who value independence while still benefiting from the support and infrastructure of a well-established logistics company.

The company values safety and compliance highly, requiring drivers to have a clean driving record, no recent DUIs, limited moving violations, and to pass physical and drug screenings. There is a strong focus on ensuring that all drivers operate Newer Model tractors (2005 or newer), aligning with Universal Intermodal's commitment to safety, environmental standards, and operational efficiency.

Overall, this position with Universal Intermodal represents an excellent opportunity for CDL-A owner-operators in the Jacksonville area who seek consistent, high-paying work with substantial benefits. The company's commitment to quality service, safety, and driver satisfaction makes it a leading choice for professionals in the intermodal transportation sector.
