The role available is for a Driver - Hourly with Core-Mark. This position is essential in supporting America's food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and foodservice products. Drivers play a pivotal role as the face of the company, helping to build and maintain strong relationships with customers. The role offers competitive compensation with a first-year pay potential of up to $75,000, including hourly and overtime pay, all within a convenient four-day Monday to Thursday workweek. Drivers benefit from a three-day weekend every week, ensuring work-life balance. The night shift operates typically from 7:30 pm to 6:30 am, with routes shuttling between Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Carroll, Iowa.

Drivers in this role are responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers on intrastate and interstate routes, delivering and unloading food products in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. They are accountable for conducting mandatory safety checks before and after trips, ensuring that all vehicles meet company and DOT safety standards. Accurate documentation and communication with vendors and co-workers are crucial for smooth operations and customer satisfaction. Additional duties include loading and securing customer returns, completing required paperwork, unloading damaged goods, and general maintenance like cleaning tractors and trailer areas. The role demands adherence to federal and company safety policies, and drivers are expected to demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and reliability throughout their shifts. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Six or more months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately report all safety hazards
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Check and complete accurately all required paperwork associated with freight
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
  • At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
