Job Description
GSC Wholesale LLC, operating under the well-established brand Grocers Supply, is the largest wholesale grocery supplier in Texas. Based in Houston, the company serves over 900 independent grocery stores across the state, ranging from single-store retailers to large chains including Fiesta, FoodTown, Market Basket, Cox Foodarama / La Fiesta, Sellers Brothers, Minyard Food Stores, G.E. Foodland, and El Rio Grande. Grocers Supply prides itself on its commitment to quality service, operational excellence, and safety, striving to meet and exceed the expectations of its diverse customer base. As a leading supplier in the grocery wholesale industry, GSC Wholesale LLC emphasizes a work environment that supports career growth, employee wellness, and inclusivity, holding equal opportunity employment principles at its core.
The role of a Professional Driver at C&S Wholesale Grocers, a key part of the GSC Wholesale structure, is integral to the company’s mission of creating the most safe, efficient, and customer-focused fleet in the country. This position focuses on maintaining the highest standards of safety and service while transporting and delivering products to customers. New drivers begin their career with formal training from a Professional Driver Trainer (PDT), who provides thorough coaching on company policies, Department of Transportation regulations, and the unique operational culture known as the C&S Way. After successful completion of this training program, drivers take full responsibility for their routes, which typically involve 3 to 10 stops per day delivering ambient or temperature-sensitive products. Maintaining regulatory compliance, performing safety inspections, and ensuring customer satisfaction form the core of daily responsibilities.
This full-time position requires a minimum of one year of experience operating commercial motor vehicles such as semi-trucks, eighteen-wheelers, or box trucks. Drivers must be at least 21 years old, DOT certified with a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, and meet all regulatory physical examination requirements. The work environment involves exposure to various temperature-controlled storage facilities, including freezers with temperatures ranging from -20F to 0F and perishable and grocery warehouses with temperatures from 28F to 90F.
C&S Wholesale Grocers offers a comprehensive benefits package that starts from day one, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a company-matched 401(k), paid training, weekly pay, paid time off, holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, and wellness programs. The company also supports employee development and work-life balance through career progression opportunities, employee assistance programs, and safety incentives such as financial support for safety shoe purchases. With shifts available in both morning and evening, C&S Wholesale Grocers supports a flexible work schedule to accommodate driver preferences. Overall, this role offers a rewarding career path within a respected and fast-growing company dedicated to operational excellence, safety, and community service.
