The role of Medical Waste Route Driver Swing CDL A at WM is a crucial position designed for individuals responsible for servicing diverse accounts by picking up medical waste and delivering supplies in a professional and efficient manner. This position requires flexibility as routes may change daily due to absences, vacations, or service changes, demanding adaptability and excellent organizational skills. The driver is expected to uphold the highest level of customer service, ensuring that every customer’s needs are met consistently. Responsibilities include transporting waste safely from Stericycle or customer locations to transfer or processing sites, making sure to comply with federal, state, and local regulations at all times. WM equips all company vehicles with advanced technology such as camera telematics with inside and outside cameras, electronic logging devices (ELD), and GPS to enhance safety, compliance, and route management.

The Medical Waste Route Driver is tasked with managing daily routes effectively to guarantee timely and accurate waste pickup while following routing software schedules and planning routes based on customers’ needs and paperwork like manifests and route sheets. This role involves preparing and loading trucks, securing waste and materials, and ensuring that customers have properly packaged their waste to meet all regulatory standards prior to transport. Communication plays a vital role in this position, as drivers must report any issues or changes to their Transportation Manager, Supervisor, or Dispatcher promptly to resolve problems and maintain service quality. Documentation accuracy is critical, as drivers must complete all necessary paperwork and logs meticulously and report any vehicle maintenance issues. Physical demands include regular lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and reaching, with the job requiring frequent standing and walking while also encompassing time sitting, talking, and hearing while operating the vehicle.
