The role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is pivotal in supporting America’s food distribution system. These drivers ensure the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products, acting as the face of the company and building lasting customer relationships. The position requires driving various vehicles including tractor-trailers and straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, performing over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries, including drive and drop routes. The drivers must comply with Department of Transportation regulations and maintain professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and coworkers.

Drivers are responsible for conducting safety checks such as pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to meet DOT regulations and company standards. They must inspect trailers to verify proper loading and secure freight, perform inventory counts, and accurately complete all associated paperwork. Moving tractor units to docks, attaching trailers, and following predetermined delivery routes are essential aspects of their daily work. Upon delivery, drivers unload products, perform damage control checks, scan items, and coordinate with supervisors according to company policy. Collecting payment where applicable and handling customer returns appropriately is part of their duties.

Drivers also secure their tractors, trailers, and freight, unload damaged goods, complete all necessary documentation, and perform housekeeping duties in their work areas. Compliance with federal, state, and company guidelines regarding hours of service is mandatory. The role demands physical capability such as hand-lifting and the use of equipment to move and stack freight, emphasizing safety gear like steel toe boots.

Core-Mark’s dedication to equal employment opportunity ensures a diverse and inclusive workplace. The company’s strong reputation and robust benefits make this delivery driver role a compelling career opportunity for individuals with CDL-A licenses who are motivated to contribute to the vital food supply chain while growing in a supportive corporate culture.
