Job Description
Ruan is a reputable transportation and logistics company with a legacy of over 90 years serving clients across the United States. Emphasizing a 'People First' and 'Safety Focus' culture, Ruan is dedicated to providing reliable and efficient freight hauling services while fostering an environment where employees feel valued and supported. As a significant player in the logistics industry, Ruan offers tailored solutions including dedicated customer freight services, specializing in managing supply chains for a variety of clients that span retail, manufacturing, and other sectors. With its strong commitment to safety, innovation, and employee satisfaction, Ruan continuously strives to uphold high standards in trucking and logistics.
Currently, Ruan is seeking Class A CDL drivers to be based in Tyler, TX, to haul retail store products primarily for their dedicated customer, Target. This position involves operating 53-foot dry van trailers with late-model Day Cab or Sleeper equipment, delivering dry van freight that is typically no-touch with drop and hook or live load assignments primarily for backhauls. The role is designed to support a hybrid local and overnight running schedule, allowing drivers to be home mostly daily, with occasional layovers one to two times per week as needed. Drivers enjoy the predictability and consistency of start times between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. and generally work shifts ranging from 10 to 12 hours, except when on layover routes.
Compensation for this role is competitive, with drivers earning an average of over $60,000 annually through a pay structure that includes mileage, stops, and layovers, supplemented by shift differentials for evening and weekend shifts, as well as a weekly safety bonus of $50. Weekly pay periods ensure consistent and timely earnings, contributing to a stable financial outlook for employees.
Ruan provides comprehensive benefits that underline their commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance. Benefits include health, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance, prescription drug coverage, paid time off including holidays and vacation, 401(k) matching with a company contribution of 50 percent of employee deferrals up to 6 percent after one year of service, and more. Additional offerings such as a Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for health care and dependent care, short and long-term disability coverage, free virtual doctor visits, wellness programs, and tuition reimbursements extend the company’s investment in their drivers’ health and growth.
Ruan sets clear minimum requirements for prospective drivers to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Applicants must be at least 22 years old, have no more than three moving violations within the past three years with some restrictions, and have no more than one DOT recordable preventable accident within the last three years. Drivers must have at least nine months of tractor-trailer experience within the preceding three years and must be able to communicate proficiently in English to interact effectively with the public, understand traffic signage, and complete necessary reports and records. Additionally, in alignment with federal regulations, all candidates are required to create a profile on the FMCSA's Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse prior to employment.
This position represents a great opportunity for experienced CDL Class A drivers seeking a stable and rewarding career with a company that values safety, employee support, and steady home time. Ruan’s focus on providing seasoned drivers with an optimal blend of autonomy, structured schedules, and comprehensive benefits makes it an attractive employment option in the trucking industry. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Ruan’s recruiting hotline for further information and to begin the application process.
