The company is renowned for its robust network of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who collaborate closely to enhance customer operations through tailored advice on menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. With a strong focus not only on delivering high-quality food products but also on empowering independent restaurant owners to realize their ambitions, Performance Foodservice stands out as a partner that goes beyond standard distribution services.
As a respected member of the foodservice industry, Performance Foodservice prides itself on maintaining a safe, inclusive, and rewarding workplace culture that values teamwork, recognition, and respect. The company offers competitive compensation packages ranging approximately between $70,000 and $90,000 annually, complemented by an array of benefits including day-one health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, educational assistance, and paid time off. The work schedule for drivers is typically Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, featuring an average 12-hour shift with variable start and end times, while ensuring that drivers return home daily.
The role of a Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is a vital component within the broader food supply chain. Delivery drivers ensure that food and food-related products not only arrive promptly and in excellent condition to customers but also serve as the face of the company, fostering lasting and positive relationships with clients. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including local, intrastate, interstate, overnight, shuttle, and over-the-road deliveries. The delivery driver is responsible for a wide scope of duties including conducting thorough pre and post-trip safety inspections, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maneuvering vehicles safely, loading and unloading product shipments, verifying orders with customers, and maintaining accurate paperwork and logs.
This position demands a professional who takes pride in punctuality, customer service, safety compliance, and teamwork. Drivers contribute to the company’s mission by supporting America's essential food distribution system through dependable, timely deliveries. They are active participants in the company’s commitment to safety, submitting reports on any vehicle issues and ensuring cargo is properly secured. Moreover, drivers assist in managing returns, damages, and customer payments where applicable, demonstrating accountability and integrity on every route.
Working as a delivery driver at Performance Foodservice offers more than employment; it provides opportunities for career growth, skill development, and engagement within a community that values each team member. The safe and inclusive work environment supports driver success with recognition programs, ongoing training, and comprehensive benefits that contribute to well-being and career satisfaction. This role is perfect for motivated individuals seeking a fulfilling career in logistics and foodservice distribution where they can make a tangible impact while receiving competitive rewards and work-life balance.
