The delivery driver role at McCoy's is crucial to the company’s supply chain and customer satisfaction. This position entails responsibly transferring products from distribution centers to customer residences, construction sites, and commercial locations using company vehicles. The driver must navigate complex routes efficiently using navigation tools, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries. Additionally, the delivery driver is tasked with verifying orders, collecting payments on cash-on-delivery orders, maintaining delivery records, and communicating effectively with customers. This position demands excellent customer service skills, the ability to handle customer complaints tactfully, and the physical capability to load and unload merchandise. Strict compliance with safety regulations, company standards, and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements is essential for this role. The driver must be 23 years or older and capable of obtaining necessary certifications, including McCoy’s forklift certification. Job Requirements

  • Must be 23 years of age or older
  • Must successfully complete all company training and certification requirements including forklift certification
  • Must be qualified to drive commercial motor vehicle under FMCSR rules if applicable including current DOT physical card
  • Must have appropriate driver’s license for equipment being operated
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds frequently and occasionally move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to push or pull 50-pound loads
  • Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to use navigation tools
  • Ability to plan delivery routes
  • Ability to perform routine vehicle safety checks
  • Must be able to read and speak English
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to use three-point hold when entering/exiting trucks and forklifts
  • Must maintain professional and courteous conduct
  • Must be physically capable to safely operate equipment and vehicles

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and speak English to converse with the general public and understand highway signs
  • Hold valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle operated
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training including levels 1 and 2 of positional training
  • Ability to operate a forklift with McCoy's certification
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to use navigation tools such as GPS and smartphone apps
  • Ability to plan delivery routes
  • Ability to maintain logs and records
  • Ability to follow instructions without constant supervision
  • Professional and courteous demeanor
  • Meet company driver eligibility guidelines
  • Be 23 years of age or older
  • Current and unrestricted DOT physical card if driving a commercial motor vehicle

Job Duties

  • Drive company vehicles to deliver lumber, building materials, hardware, and other supplies to customers' homes, construction sites, or places of business
  • Collect payment from customers on cash on delivery (COD) orders and record customer information according to standard operating procedures
  • Verify order details and obtain customer signature on store copy of delivery ticket
  • Follow directions or use navigation tools to locate delivery addresses efficiently
  • Record all pertinent delivery information for accurate tracking
  • Collect and organize paperwork for delivery and transfer activity
  • Treat customers with courtesy and respect and act as liaison between customer and store personnel
  • Inform store management of any customer complaints or requests promptly
  • Collect or pick up empty containers, rejected or unsold merchandise from delivery sites as directed
  • Load vehicle safely and accurately
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of delivery vehicles
  • Perform routine safety checks on vehicles
  • Assist in yard and warehouse with stocking, loading, and organizing materials
  • Assist customers in yard with loading material and product questions
  • Comply with all company safety standards and federal, state, and local laws
  • Operate a forklift
  • Attend all store meetings and training sessions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
