Job Description
Performance Food Group (PFG) is a leading broadline food distributor with a distinguished reputation for serving a diverse clientele that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on a customer-centric approach, combining expert advice, menu development, product selection, and strategic operational support through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, and consultants. PFG’s mission is not only to deliver high-quality food products but also to empower independent restaurant owners and food service businesses to thrive in competitive markets. Their inclusive workplace culture emphasizes employee recognition, respect, safety, and opportunities for professional growth, making PFG a top choice for career-minded individuals in the food distribution industry.
This position offers exciting career prospects for CDL-A Drivers dedicated to ensuring the punctual and safe delivery of food and food-related products. This role is central to maintaining America’s food supply chain, reflecting PFG’s commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction. The CDL-A Driver will handle a range of driving assignments, including intrastate and interstate routes, local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and occasional overnight routes. This position offers a highly competitive pay starting at $75,000 or more in the first year and includes a $7,500 hiring bonus (terms apply). The work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday with early morning starts, local routes, no nights, and no weekend work, making it an excellent role for candidates seeking work-life balance along with career advancement.
The role requires a professional disposition, as drivers represent the face of PFG to customers. Drivers are responsible for meticulous safety inspections of their tractors and trailers, adherence to DOT regulations, secure loading and unloading of freight, timely and accurate completion of delivery paperwork, and maintaining the integrity and safety of freight throughout the delivery process. A CDL-A Driver at PFG must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, identifying and reporting hazards, and following all company and federal guidelines closely.
Successful candidates will thrive in a collaborative team environment, effectively communicate with customers and colleagues, and uphold the highest standards of service and safety. Beyond the core driving duties, the role may include handling equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to assist with freight movement. Physical stamina is required as drivers will handle product cases weighing between approximately 60 to 90 pounds. This position mandates compliance with PFG’s MVR requirements, passing a road and drug test, and securing a DOT medical card.
PFG fosters a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment with extensive benefits starting on day one. Benefits include health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401K matching, education assistance, paid time off, and career growth opportunities in an industry vital to the nation’s food ecosystem. Candidates who are motivated, responsible, and aligned with PFG’s core values will find this position rewarding and impactful, contributing to a crucial segment of the foodservice industry while building a stable, well-compensated career.
