This role is a critical position within Core-Mark’s food distribution operations, focused on ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food service products. The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver is not only responsible for transporting goods but also serves as the face of the company, building lasting relationships with customers through dependable and courteous service. This position offers competitive pay at $29.50 per hour, with the potential to earn between $80,000 and $120,000 annually, reflecting the importance of the role in maintaining America’s food supply chain.
Working Monday through Friday, this position involves operating as part of a dedicated team managing delivery routes that support retail clients across various locations. Delivery drivers at Core-Mark perform essential functions including pre- and post-trip safety inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, careful handling and secure transportation of freight, accurate completion of delivery paperwork, and direct customer interaction to verify delivery satisfaction. Drivers also ensure the tractor, trailer, and freight are secured and properly maintained, contributing to overall safety and efficiency.
Additional responsibilities include managing damaged goods, handling customer returns, maintaining cleanliness and organization of vehicles and loading areas, and recording hours of service according to federal and state regulations. Job Requirements
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past three years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Job Qualifications
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be 21 or older
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past three years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate to move product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and takes appropriate action as needed
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately reports all safety hazards
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects money where required
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters log per Federal DOT, state and company requirements
- Performs other related duties as assigned
