The role of Driver, Dedicated Backhaul at Cheney Brothers is essential within the logistics and distribution division. This position offers a Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional Saturday shifts, and features varied dispatch start times to accommodate operational needs. Drivers will receive a competitive daily pay of $250. The primary responsibility of the Driver, Dedicated Backhaul is to transport food and related products using tractor-trailers, tandem trailers, or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. These routes can include local deliveries, over-the-road layovers, shuttles, and overnight trips, requiring flexibility and adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

This role is pivotal in upholding the company’s reputation as the face of Cheney Brothers to its valued customers. Drivers ensure that deliveries are timely and products remain in excellent condition throughout transport. They also engage professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to provide accurate, courteous communication and resolve any issues effectively. As a team member, the Driver, Dedicated Backhaul collaborates closely with supervisors to confirm route details, schedules, and handle any on-the-road adjustments. They also assist with securing equipment and completing all necessary documentation at the end of each shift. Drivers are expected to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting and maneuvering product cases ranging from 10 to 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.
