The Driver, Dedicated Backhaul position at Cheney Brothers plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless movement of food and related products through the supply chain. This role is essential not only for timely deliveries but also for strengthening relationships with customers by serving as the face of the company during interactions. Drivers in this position operate tractor-trailers, tandem trailers, or straight trucks on local, regional, and interstate routes to pick up and deliver food and non-food products safely and efficiently. Working primarily night shifts from Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays, drivers must manage varied dispatch times, navigating through predetermined schedules and routes. The role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation regulations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational protocols. Drivers are responsible for load inspections, accurate documentation, professional communication with customers and colleagues, and contributing to a culture of respect and reliability.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 12 months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Age 21 years or older
- Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean driving record for the past three years
- Successful completion of post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Passing a road test
- Current or obtainable DOT health card
- Physical capability to lift products ranging from 10 to 90 pounds and use material handling equipment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attains or has valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate to move and stack product cases/freight
Job Duties
- Drive to assigned supplier/vendor and/or PFG warehouse locations according to a predetermined route and delivery schedule
- Deliver assigned loads back to PFG warehouse locations for receiving into inventory
- Perform appropriate load and paperwork inspections including product counts, invoices, and quality checks
- Check and complete all required paperwork associated with backhaul operations accurately and legibly
- Routinely check in with direct supervisor to confirm route, load, and schedule and advise of any issues or changes
- Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
