Live! by Loews - St. Louis, MO is a vibrant collaboration between Loews Hotels & Co, The Cordish Companies, and the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most beloved sports franchises in the country. Situated within the successful Ballpark Village Live! complex’s second phase, this hotel delivers unscripted and locally handcrafted experiences for both group and leisure guests. The property features 216 stylish guestrooms, 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space offering spectacular views, and multiple food and beverage outlets, including a standout outdoor lounge and a Bourbon Bar.

The Barback role at Live! by Loews - St. Louis is an essential support position within the beverage service team. Barbacks assist bartenders and beverage servers by ensuring all bar areas are in proper working order and well stocked with necessary supplies prior to and during all functions and events. They play a key role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of beverage service by restocking beverages, replenishing glassware, and upholding cleanliness and sanitary standards throughout the bar and lounge areas. This role also involves participation in inventory management, including assisting with monthly beverage inventories and organizing storerooms.

Barbacks actively contribute to smooth operations during busy service periods by supporting servers with tasks such as clearing tables and transporting food trays, especially during large events. They are responsible for preparing mixers, garnishes, and setting up service areas for what is called "Mis en Place" to ensure seamless beverage service. This position requires regular collaboration with bar captains, adherence to Loews’ high service standards, and a continual focus on guest satisfaction and safety. Additionally, barbacks assist with closing duties including securing all inventory and maintaining a clean work environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One plus years of experience as a barback in a high volume, upscale hotel or free standing lounge environments
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend and lift items weighting up to 50 pounds repetitively during entire shift
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Certifications such as Certified Food Service Manager, TIPS or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of wine and spirits
  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write English

Job Duties

  • Assure that all bars are kept in proper working conditions
  • Provide all supplies needed for bar prior and during all functions and events
  • Restock any and all beverages after all function
  • Assist with monthly beverage inventory and organization of beverage storeroom
  • Support the bartender and beverage server by stocking all service areas and maintaining adequate supplies
  • Clean and stock all glassware
  • Assist with service of beverages
  • Transport food trays to/from dining room
  • Assist with cleaning all public areas
  • Participate in monthly inventory
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitary condition of lounge and service areas
  • Prepare mixers and garnishes prior to start of service and during shift
  • Set up bar service area with necessary glassware and supplies prior to start of service
  • Monitor guest consumption to prevent over indulgence and ensure safety
  • Perform all closing duties and secure inventory
  • Maintain clean and organized storage space
