Job Description
The hiring organization is a dedicated care provider serving the community through an emphasis on physical, social, spiritual, and mental well-being of its residents. This establishment is committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment for its residents by providing a rich range of leisure and social activities that contribute to enhanced quality of life. Their mission involves closely working with residents, family members, and staff to foster community connection, respect, and personal growth. Being a care-focused setting, the organization maintains strict standards for safety and efficient operations, appreciating the role that recreational and therapy-related activities play in holistic health and wellness for its residents.
The position available is for an Arts & Leisure Assistant, reporting directly to the Arts & Leisure Director. This role is primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a variety of activities such as trips, tours, religious outings, group meetings, and other social programs aimed at enriching the everyday lives of residents. By establishing a welcoming ambiance both inside the facility and within homes, the assistant ensures that residents remain engaged, active, and connected socially, physically, and spiritually. The role demands an individual with creativity, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across multiple groups including residents, families, colleagues, and visitors. A key aspect of this role is being safety-sensitive, implying adherence to all safety protocols and guidelines during activities and interactions.
In detail, the Arts & Leisure Assistant encourages participation, promotes events, and contributes to monthly newsletters and activity calendars to maintain a dynamic and inclusive environment. The role also involves recruiting and managing volunteers, ensuring their contributions are recognized and appreciated. The assistant may also be involved in logistical aspects such as set up and clean up for events and activities. Regular attendance, availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays, and the capability to perform physically and mentally demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, walking long distances, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds are crucial to fulfilling job requirements.
This career opportunity is ideal for someone with a high school diploma or GED, creativity, and preferably experience in recreational or occupational therapy domains. Skills in Microsoft Office, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail are essential to successfully manage communications and event planning within the community setting. Employees are also expected to engage in ongoing training and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the organization and its residents.
