This position is with a reputable healthcare or senior living facility dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through comprehensive arts and leisure programs. The hiring establishment is focused on providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment that nurtures the physical, social, spiritual, and mental well-being of every resident. The facility employs dedicated staff who are committed to creating a vibrant community where residents can socialize, grow, and maintain their independence while feeling valued and respected. Their programs are designed not only to entertain but also to enrich the residents’ daily living experiences through a variety of structured and informal activities that appeal to diverse interests and needs.
The Arts & Leisure Assistant role is a crucial position reporting directly to the Arts & Leisure Director. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of recreational, social, and cultural activities designed to foster an at-home feeling and promote overall wellness among residents. The assistant works closely with residents, family members, visitors, and fellow staff, ensuring all interactions are respectful and considerate. The position requires an individual who is organized, creative, and capable of motivating residents to participate in activities that benefit their spirit, mind, and body. This is a safety-sensitive position, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a secure environment during all activities.
Duties include coordinating trips, tours, group meetings, and religious outings that align with the interests and abilities of the resident population. The assistant also contributes to the production of the monthly activities calendar and newsletter to keep residents and their families informed. Recruiting and managing volunteers is essential, as is maintaining a volunteer database for recognition purposes. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for long periods, walking considerable distances, and assisting with setup and cleanup duties for events.
The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma or GED, coupled with creativity and imagination to develop engaging programming. Experience in recreational or occupational therapy-related areas is preferred but not mandatory. Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication proficiency, and computer literacy (including Microsoft Office suite) are essential to succeed in this position. The work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the varied needs of the resident community.
This job not only offers the opportunity to be part of a caring professional team but also to make a meaningful impact in the lives of senior residents by enhancing their quality of life through innovative and compassionate arts and leisure programming.
