The Civil Engineer I role is a full-time position located in San Diego, CA, within the Transportation team. This position provides an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to collaborate with seasoned engineers and project managers on diverse roadway and infrastructure projects throughout California. The successful candidate will be tasked with supporting the planning, design, and technical analysis phases of local and regional transportation projects.

Additional responsibilities include assisting with construction support, contributing to project scheduling and budgeting, engaging in marketing and business development activities, overseeing junior staff on assignments, managing tasks from inception to completion, and participating in continuous professional development programs.
This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring presence in the San Diego office two days a week, providing a balanced approach to remote and on-site collaboration. The salary range for this position is competitive, estimated between $85,000 and $125,000 annually, with actual compensation dependent on education, skillset, professional experience, and geographic location.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
- Minimum 5 years of experience preparing engineering drawings and designs
- Proficiency in CAD with familiarity in MicroStation OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated leadership and independence
- Interest in public-sector projects including Caltrans

Job Duties

- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design technicians to deliver high-quality work
- Apply engineering standards, technical manuals, and design principles to meet client expectations
- Assist with engineering support during construction
- Support project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and proposals
- Contribute to marketing initiatives and business development efforts
- Oversee and guide the work of other staff on project assignments
- Serve as a task manager on select projects, owning deliverables from start to finish
