Job Description

Base is a unique platform dedicated to fostering in-real-life social connections and building strong community bonds. It caters to accomplished individuals who have successfully established careers, nurtured families, and earned reputations in their respective fields. These Members come to Base seeking meaningful, scheduled, in-person interactions with peers they genuinely wish to know and spend time with. At its core, Base prioritizes the gathering itself as the ultimate product, creating spaces where personal and professional relationships can flourish naturally. The organization emphasizes authentic experiences over digital connections, striving to recreate the intimacy and vibrance of real-world social environments in contemporary urban settings.

Base operates through city-specific events – special occasions designed to bring diverse Members together through experiences, socials, dinners, seasonal celebrations, and new-member orientations. Every event hosted under the Base banner reflects a high standard of quality and personalization, intended to meet the expectations of its discerning community. Unlike many social networks, Base offers structure without sacrificing spontaneity, convenience without diluting depth. The role of the City Host is therefore pivotal; this person ensures that every event runs seamlessly, that each attendee feels recognized and welcome, and that the environment radiates the right energy and ambiance.

The City Host position is dynamic and multifaceted, requiring someone adept at orchestrating memorable gatherings that both attract and retain participants. This role includes overseeing all aspects of event management from the moment the venue is prepared to the final farewell as guests depart. The City Host is responsible for curating an inviting atmosphere through thoughtful attention to details such as lighting, music, seating arrangements, and room flow. They greet Members personally, managing interactions with warmth and familiarity, building rapport and trust that encourages repeat attendance.

Event sizes may vary, ranging from intimate dinners with around 20 guests to larger social mixers with up to 60 people. Regardless of scale, the City Host maintains control of the event’s rhythm—opening and closing with intention, managing transitions smoothly and keeping the energy engaging throughout. Adaptability is key, as the Host tailors each gathering's format to suit the specific occasion and community needs while ensuring Base's high standards remain consistent.

Ideal candidates bring a blend of charisma and professionalism. They possess the natural ability to connect with accomplished adults on a peer-level rather than as performers or mere facilitators. Familiarity with the local city culture, including knowledge of popular venues and neighborhood vibes, is essential to creating authentic experiences that resonate with Members. The role demands someone detail-obsessed, reliable, and genuinely curious about people – someone who remembers names, stories, and attendance history with ease.

Career backgrounds well-suited to this role include hospitality, fine dining, theater, private clubs, event production, weddings, and restaurants. Any experience where one has successfully managed sophisticated events and kept guests returning is highly valued. The position offers flexible scheduling, primarily covering weekend and weeknight events that typically last two hours with additional time for setup and teardown. Compensation is performance-based per event, ranging from $25 to $300 depending on event size and responsibilities, with other task-based pay ranging from $10 to $30.

The City Host must have a valid driver's license, active auto insurance, reliable transportation, and be physically comfortable setting up rooms and managing the venue throughout the event. Smartphone connectivity is essential for communication and coordination. Base also covers mileage, parking, and on-shift meals per company policy. The company operates equality in hiring, embracing diversity and inclusivity, and enforces standards of professionalism, including abstaining from alcohol during events where it is served.

In summary, the City Host role at Base is a unique opportunity for charismatic, city-savvy individuals who excel at creating welcoming, memorable social gatherings that foster lasting connections. If you enjoy leading events that blend elegance, energy, and authenticity, and thrive in roles requiring attention to detail, reliability, and interpersonal skill, this position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in your city’s social landscape.
