Job Description
Base is a dynamic platform dedicated to fostering authentic in-real-life social connections and building vibrant communities. Its members consist of accomplished individuals who have developed strong careers, families, and personal reputations. These people come to Base to fill what their busy schedules lack — meaningful and regular face-to-face interactions with peers they genuinely want to know. Base positions itself uniquely by emphasizing genuine human connections and memorable shared experiences as its primary product. This approach not only facilitates community among like-minded individuals but also nurtures lasting relationships through curated events and gatherings.
Base is known for its welcoming and intimate atmosphere, providing a blend of socials, dinners, seasonal celebrations, orientations, and experiences tailored to members' interests and city cultures. The community values personal engagement, attentiveness, and a warm environment where members can feel they truly belong. In this thriving ecosystem, the role of a City Host is pivotal. City Hosts are entrusted with the responsibility of managing Base events in their respective cities, ensuring each gathering runs smoothly and meets the high standards of the Base community.
As a City Host at Base, you will be the face and spirit of the brand during events. This role requires your dedication to architecting unforgettable moments — from meticulously setting up the venue before the event begins, managing the atmosphere through lighting and music, welcoming each member by name, to carefully orchestrating the event dynamics. Your goal is to make every venue the right place to be, creating an environment that feels exclusive, comfortable, and perfectly curated. Whether the event is an intimate 20-person dinner or a larger 60-person social, you are expected to hold the space, motivate positive energy, and close the event with intention and grace.
The City Host role is part hospitality expert, part event manager, and part community builder. It is a unique opportunity for individuals who thrive in social settings, take pride in flawless event execution, and have a genuine curiosity about people and their stories. You will cultivate connections, remember details, and ensure that every returning member feels seen, heard, and valued. This role suits someone who is charismatic, reliable, detail-oriented, and confident in leading groups of accomplished adults.
In addition to in-person event execution, City Hosts adapt to various event formats and maintain Base’s high standards at all times. This includes managing pre-event set-up, maintaining ambiance throughout, anticipating and resolving issues quietly, and conducting a thorough teardown that leaves the venue better than it was found.
The position offers flexible scheduling primarily during weekends and weeknights, with events typically lasting 2 hours plus an additional hour or two for setup and teardown. Compensation is variable, ranging from $25 to $300 per event based on its size and responsibilities, with other tasks compensated from $10 to $30 depending on complexity. City Hosts must be physically able to manage venue setups and possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and smartphone with dependable data to communicate effectively. Base reimburses mileage, parking, and food costs as per company policy. Moreover, while alcohol may be served at some events, City Hosts must remain professional and refrain from drinking during their shifts.
Base champions inclusivity and equal opportunity employment, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds who meet the eligibility criteria of being 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the US. If you are passionate about your city, charismatic, detail-obsessed, and eager to lead meaningful in-person gatherings, the City Host position at Base offers a fulfilling role in creating community and enhancing social connections.
