Job Description

Base is a unique platform dedicated to fostering in-real-life social connections and building strong communities among accomplished individuals. Our Members are professionals who have established careers, families, and personal reputations, yet seek meaningful, face-to-face interactions beyond their busy schedules. Base aims to fill that social gap by organizing regular, in-person events where Members can genuinely connect with peers they truly want to know. The essence of Base is creating authentic, intentional gatherings where Members feel welcomed, engaged, and part of a vibrant community. Our approach is centered on quality experiences, not just events, and this focus distinguishes us from typical social platforms.

Base operates across various cities, enabling local communities to flourish under the leadership of dedicated City Hosts. The City Host is a vital role at Base, designed for someone who thrives in social environments and has an innate talent for making events memorable. In this role, you will be responsible for running all Base events in your city – from experiences and socials to new-member orientations, dinners, and seasonal festivities. Your role involves much more than just managing logistics; you will curate an atmosphere that makes Members feel like they belong, arriving early to set the space and ensuring every detail contributes to an exceptional experience.

As a City Host, you will welcome Members by name, engage confidently with groups ranging from 20 to 60 people, and oversee the entire flow of each event. Your ability to read the room, manage energy, and handle transitions smooths the way for effective socialization. This role requires a balance of charisma, reliability, and a dedication to excellence, as you uphold Base’s high standards – small imperfections like crooked chairs or awkward music shifts must be addressed before anyone notices. You leave the venue better than you found it, ensuring every detail exceeds expectations.

The ideal candidate is charismatic and relatable, able to connect authentically with accomplished adults in a peer-to-peer dynamic rather than a performance mode. You know your city deeply – its culture, vibe, best venues, and preferred neighborhoods – and can tap into what makes people want to be part of the local Base community. The City Host must be confident in leading gatherings, detail-oriented, genuinely curious about people, and extremely dependable given the recurring schedule of events. This role suits individuals with backgrounds in hospitality, fine dining, theater, private clubs, event production, weddings, or similar fields where managing a room for discerning guests was crucial.

Compensation for this role ranges from $25 to $300 per event, depending on size and responsibility, with other tasks paid between $10 and $30 based on complexity. Events generally last 2 hours, with an additional 1 to 2 hours for setup and teardown. The schedule is flexible, primarily featuring weeknights and weekends with a recurring pattern, allowing you to fit this role around other commitments.

You must have a valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation to the event venues. Physically, the role requires you to be on your feet throughout events and capable of moving tables, chairs, and supplies up to 30 pounds. You will need a smartphone with reliable data service for communication. Base reimburses mileage, parking, and provides food while on shift, following company policy. Please note if alcohol is served during events, you are required to refrain from drinking while working.

Base is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status. If you are passionate about creating vibrant social connections and possess the qualities that make an outstanding City Host, we encourage you to apply and become part of Base’s mission to bring people together in meaningful ways.
