Job Description
Base is a dynamic and innovative platform dedicated to fostering genuine in-real-life social connections and building vibrant communities. Through its carefully curated events and welcoming environment, Base brings together accomplished individuals who have excelled in their careers, built families, and established solid reputations. These Members seek more than just casual meetings; they desire meaningful, regular, in-person interactions with peers who share similar values and ambitions. The essence of Base lies in the gatherings themselves, which are meticulously designed to create memorable experiences and lasting friendships among its Members.
The company emphasizes the importance of social gatherings as the core product, ensuring that each event is crafted and executed with precision and care. This commitment to quality social experiences creates a unique space where Members feel valued and connected. Base operates in various cities, adapting to the local culture and preferences while maintaining high standards and a consistent brand experience.
The role of City Host at Base is pivotal to the organization's success. As a City Host, you are responsible for running Base events in your city with dedication and professionalism. This role encompasses organizing and managing a range of social experiences including orientations for new members, dinners, seasonal celebrations, and larger social events tailored to the needs and culture of your city. The City Host ensures that each event begins and ends smoothly, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere and fostering connections among attendees.
You will be the face of Base at these events, arriving early to set up the venue with attention to detail—everything from lighting and music to place cards and seating arrangements must be perfect before the first Member arrives. Greeting every Member by name and confidently engaging with them throughout the event creates a sense of belonging and community. Whether managing a small dinner of 20 guests or a large social gathering of 60, you will skillfully hold the space, manage energy, facilitate transitions, and close the event with intentionality.
Your role requires adaptability to handle diverse event formats while upholding Base's high standards. You must possess a keen eye for detail, correcting any imperfections that might detract from the experience, such as misaligned chairs or awkward musical transitions, all before they are noticed by attendees. After each event, thorough teardown and venue care are essential, leaving the space in better condition than when you arrived.
Ideal candidates for the City Host role are charismatic with the ability to quickly connect with others. They are comfortable as peers among accomplished adults rather than performers putting on a show. A deep love and knowledge of the city’s culture, neighborhoods, and popular venues is vital, as is the confidence to lead groups ranging from 20 to 60 people effectively. Reliability and consistency are paramount since Base events follow a recurring schedule and demand punctual and prepared hosts.
Backgrounds in hospitality, fine dining, theater, private clubs, event production, weddings, or restaurants are highly relevant, given these experiences entail managing real rooms filled with discerning guests, where the host's presence ensures attendees return.
Compensation varies depending on the event's size and complexity, with pay ranging from $25 to $300 per event, plus additional tasks paid $10 to $30. Events typically last about two hours with three to four hours accounting for setup and teardown. Scheduling is flexible, primarily on weekends and weeknights, supporting work-life balance.
Additional requirements include a valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle to reach venues. Physical stamina is necessary as you’ll be standing throughout events and moving tables, chairs, and supplies up to 30 pounds. Communication relies on a smartphone with reliable data, and the company reimburses mileage, parking, and on-shift food expenses in accordance with policy. Professional behavior is expected, including abstaining from alcohol during shifts if it is served.
Base fosters an equitable and inclusive work environment, welcoming candidates who meet the age and work eligibility criteria in the US. To apply, interested individuals are encouraged to contact Base by email, joining an innovative company passionate about cultivating meaningful social connections through outstanding event experiences.
