Job Description
Base is a unique platform designed to foster genuine in-real-life social connections and build thriving communities. Unlike many networking sites that rely on digital communication, Base emphasizes face-to-face engagement among its Members. These Members are accomplished professionals, individuals who have invested significant effort in building their careers, families, and personal reputations. They turn to Base as a refreshing and vital addition to their otherwise busy calendars, seeking regular, meaningful in-person interactions with peers whom they genuinely want to know and connect with. \n\nAt its core, Base is about the experience of gathering itself. The platform provides the environment and the opportunity, but the essence of the product is the event - the social gathering that brings people together. Central to this experience is the City Host, a pivotal role responsible for ensuring that each event runs seamlessly and that every Member feels valued and welcomed. The City Host is the person who brings the community to life in their city, orchestrating events that range from casual socials and dinners to new-member orientations and seasonal celebrations. The goal of the City Host is to create spaces where Members feel comfortable, energized, and eager to return.\n\nAs a City Host at Base, your mission is to run all events in your city, regardless of size or format. You arrive early to curate the environment, setting the tone with thoughtful lighting, music, seating arrangements, and overall flow. Greeting each Member by name, you engage warmly and naturally, managing the room with confidence and presence. Whether overseeing an intimate 20-person dinner or a vibrant 60-person social, you hold the event with a steady hand, ensuring energy flows smoothly from start to finish. This role requires a detail-oriented mindset, as you attend to nuances such as crooked chairs or awkward transitions in music quietly and efficiently, elevating the experience without drawing attention to yourself.\n\nThe events you manage are varied, including experiences, socials, orientations, dinners, and special seasonal gatherings. Adaptability is key as is maintaining a high standard for every event. After the event concludes, you responsibly tear down the setup and leave the venue in better condition than it was found. Base compensates City Hosts on a per-event basis, with pay ranging typically from $25 to $300 depending on the event size and responsibility. Additional tasks related to event management may be compensated separately between $10 and $30. Events usually last around 2 hours with an additional 1 to 2 hours for preparation and teardown. The schedule is flexible, mostly covering weekends and weeknights. Successful City Hosts are reliable, detail-obsessed, charismatic individuals who genuinely enjoy engaging with a mature, accomplished clientele and love the culture and vibe of their city.\n\nBase requires that City Hosts have a valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle to reach event venues independently. Physical stamina is important, as the role involves standing for the duration of events and setting up rooms, which may include moving furniture and supplies up to 30 pounds. Communication is facilitated through a smartphone with reliable data service. The company reimburses mileage, parking, and refreshments consumed on shift according to its policy. Behavioral expectations include sobriety when alcohol is served at events and meeting legal employment age and eligibility requirements in the United States. Base is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion within its workforce.
