Job Description

Base is a unique platform designed to foster in-real-life social connections and build a strong sense of community among accomplished individuals. Our Members are people who have successfully built careers, families, and reputations and seek meaningful, regular, in-person interactions with peers they genuinely want to know. At Base, the gathering itself is the product — a carefully curated social experience that brings together people in various cities through events that nurture authentic connections and a sense of belonging.

The City Host plays a crucial role in making these gatherings successful. This position involves orchestrating and managing Base events in your city, from experiences and socials to new-member orientations, dinners, and seasonal gatherings. As the City Host, you arrive early to set the venue, ensuring every detail from lighting and music to seating flow is perfect before the first Member arrives. You greet every person by name, manage the energy of the event with confidence, and ensure the event closes on a high note. Your ability to make a venue feel welcoming and the right place to be is essential to creating memorable experiences that keep Members coming back.

This role requires more than just event management skills — it calls for charisma, confidence, and an authentic connection with the Members themselves. You are not merely performing; you are a peer who belongs in the room. You navigate events seamlessly, adapting formats while maintaining a high standard of hospitality and attention to detail. Your responsibilities range from overseeing events of various sizes and types, managing transitions smoothly, to meticulously handling even the smallest details like correcting crooked chairs or adjusting dim lighting. You hold the room with a steady presence that ensures the event runs on a recurring rhythm and meets Base’s exceptional standards.

Backgrounds in hospitality, fine dining, theater, private clubs, event production, weddings, or restaurants are highly relevant, as the key element is the ability to hold and command a room for discerning audiences. You have a proven ability to deliver polished, successful events that lead to repeat attendance.

Compensation is event-based and flexible, ranging from $25 to $300 per event depending on size and responsibility, with additional tasks paid between $10 to $30 based on complexity. Events typically last two hours, extending to three to four hours with setup and teardown, mostly scheduled on weekends and weeknights with a flexible recurring rhythm. Other requirements include having a valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, reliable transportation, and the physical ability to set up rooms and move supplies. Communication through a smartphone with reliable data access is necessary, and Base covers mileage, parking, and food costs per company policy. Professional behavior is expected at all times, including refraining from alcohol consumption while on duty. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about their city and social connections, who enjoys working with accomplished adults and can consistently deliver exceptional, well-run events.
