Job Description

FedEx Freight is a leading freight transportation company recognized for its commitment to reliable and efficient freight delivery services. As a part of the FedEx Group, the company enjoys a strong reputation for excellence in logistics and supply chain management. FedEx Freight operates an extensive network across the United States, providing both linehaul and local delivery services. This company fosters an environment that values safety, customer service, and professional growth, making it a strong choice for individuals interested in the transportation industry.

This particular role at FedEx Freight is designed for a professional truck driver with significant responsibilities including the pick-up and delivery of freight between service centers and customers. The position requires operating various types of tractor-trailers, including doubles or triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks. The candidate must be able to perform essential pre-trip safety checks, secure freight properly, and comply with all applicable laws and company procedures. Additionally, the role plays an important part in supporting the company’s selling process by interacting with customers and identifying potential new business opportunities.

This is an hourly position with pay ranging from $31.93 to $36.97 per hour, plus mileage pay for linehaul duties. The pay includes a fixed portion for certain linehaul-related tasks that do not depend on time taken, reflecting FedEx Freight’s holistic approach to rewarding performance. This role demands high standards of safety and professionalism, with the requirement to possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with specific endorsements including double/triple trailers, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements. Candidates without the hazardous materials endorsement are expected to obtain it within 120 days of employment.

Drivers in this role will often be responsible for handling freight using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. They are expected to maintain proper documentation, follow dispatch instructions diligently, and communicate proactively with both dispatch and customers. This interaction involves identifying extra business opportunities and providing actionable leads to the sales team.

Given the physical demands of this role, candidates should be capable of lifting freight weighing up to 100 pounds multiple times a week and should possess the flexibility to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, and climb in and out of trucks. The job may involve driving in varied weather conditions and diverse terrains, along with exposure to noise, vibrations, dust, diesel fumes, and occasionally hazardous materials packaged under DOT regulations.

FedEx Freight values diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities to disabled individuals and veterans. The company supports employees through health, vision, dental insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, parental leave, and vacation benefits. This role offers a practical pathway for career growth within a respected logistics company, emphasizing safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
