The position offered is for a professional CDL Class A driver specializing in the pickup and delivery of freight among service centers and customers, supporting the sales process by soliciting additional business opportunities. This role requires operating various types of motor vehicles, including tractor-trailer combinations such as doubles and triples, along with straight trucks. The driver is responsible for conducting daily pre-trip and safety inspections, handling freight securely using manual and motorized equipment, verifying all required documentation, and complying with safety and hazardous material regulations. Effective communication with dispatch and customers is essential to ensure timely deliveries and identify new sales leads. The driver must be capable of lifting and maneuvering freight weighing up to 100 pounds multiple times weekly. Job Requirements
- Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements
- must possess one year experience within most recent three years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
- must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record based on hiring standards
- must meet all Department of Transportation regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier regulations
- must meet Long Combination Vehicles Qualification and Certification Minimum Standards if applicable
- ability to count and perform basic math with or without a calculator
- basic written and verbal communication skills
- ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds several times a week
- ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, and climb in and out of truck
- ability to follow instructions and complete required training
- ability to work independently or as a team member
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Operate tractor-trailer combination including doubles and triples and/or straight trucks
- perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
- hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
- perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment including forklift and pallet jack
- secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope
- recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
- verify and complete required documentation and reports
- comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
- collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain required documentation
- follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required including delays and equipment problems
- communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business
- demonstrate internal and external customer service
- ask for additional business from customers and provide leads to sales
- perform chaining of vehicle tires when required
- perform job duties of a road driver or dock employee as needed
- comply with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures
- perform other duties as required
