Job Description

Refuel Operating Company, LLC ("Refuel") is a dynamic and fast-growing convenience store and fuel operator committed to providing exceptional service, fresh food, and a welcoming environment for every guest. With a foundation built on strong growth and a people-first culture, Refuel strives to create rewarding career opportunities within a supportive workplace that values integrity, teamwork, and community involvement. Operating across various locations, the company empowers its employees to contribute meaningfully to its success and to positively impact the communities they serve. Refuel sets itself apart by investing in technology and building innovative stores, positioning itself as a trusted brand in the marketplace for all essential needs.

The role of Church’s Guest Services/Cook is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position that requires flexible availability, which includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays. This role offers competitive pay with the opportunity for a raise after 90 days, along with many additional perks such as daily pay access, discounted gas, free drinks and food discounts, a 401K plan, and referral bonuses. The position demands weekly hours that may vary depending on business needs, reflecting the fast-paced and dynamic environment typical of the convenience store and food service industry.

As a Guest Service/Cook at Church's, the individual plays a crucial role in delivering fast, friendly, and accurate service while preparing high-quality food in line with Church’s Operating Standards Manual (OSM). This role straddles both front-of-house and kitchen responsibilities, emphasizing exceptional guest satisfaction, food safety, cleanliness, and teamwork. The ideal candidate is expected to uphold the company's high standards of food preparation, maintain an organized and clean workspace, and efficiently manage service times to optimize operational effectiveness.

The position also places strong emphasis on customer interaction, requiring employees to greet guests warmly with enthusiasm and a welcoming attitude. Guest service duties include taking orders accurately, delivering completed orders, and handling cash transactions proficiently. Additionally, employees are encouraged to actively promote menu items and current promotions through suggestive upselling, contributing to both customer satisfaction and sales growth.

Operationally, the role involves detailed food preparation and cooking according to strict quality, safety, and holding time standards. Tasks include setting up the batter station, preparing batter mixes, and organizing smallwares. Maintaining food freshness through careful rotation and monitoring product displays and fryer maintenance are key responsibilities. The employee must also stock service areas with necessary supplies and ensure all workstations, equipment, and display cases meet cleanliness standards continuously. The ability to adapt to additional duties as needed to support restaurant operations demonstrates the dynamic nature of this role.

Successful candidates will have a fundamental understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, and maintain a positive, professional demeanor in a team-oriented environment. Competency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously and adapting to shifting priorities with strong organizational and time management skills are essential. While previous retail, food service, or customer service experience is advantageous, on-the-job training is provided, making this position accessible for motivated individuals looking to develop their skills and build a career in the food service and convenience store industry.

Physically, the role requires the ability to stand for the entire work shift, work in cooler environments, lift up to 50 pounds, tolerate cleaning products and gas fumes, and occasionally climb ladders for window cleaning. The job also carries a travel requirement of up to 10%. Importantly, candidates must be at least 16 years old and understand that employment is at-will, permitting either party to terminate the relationship at any time. Refuel is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds without discrimination.

In summary, the Church's Guest Service/Cook position offers an engaging opportunity to join a supportive and growing company that values employee development and community impact. The role combines culinary skill, customer service excellence, and operational efficiency within a vibrant and collaborative team setting, making it an attractive choice for individuals seeking a meaningful and flexible full-time position in the convenience store and food service sector.
