Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its exceptional commitment to quality service, diversity, and career development opportunities. Among its many brands, Gaylord Hotels stands out for delivering remarkable meeting and entertainment experiences that go far beyond traditional hotel stays. At Gaylord, employees, often referred to as STARs, are encouraged to bring creativity, entrepreneurship, and heartfelt dedication to ensure every guest encounter is extraordinary. With a focus on inclusivity and respect for diverse backgrounds, Marriott International fosters a workplace where all associates have equal access to growth and success, making it a rewarding place to build a career.
This full-time, seasonal role as an Entertainment Performer at the Gaylord Hotels location in Chula Vista, California, offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team specializing in live entertainment within the golf, fitness, and entertainment category. The position runs from November 2, 2026, through January 3, 2027, with a competitive pay rate of $22.00 per hour. It requires the individual to engage guests one-on-one, assist performers, and create a lively, welcoming environment that enhances the overall guest experience.
In this role, the Entertainment Performer will facilitate performance activities by recruiting and scheduling guest participation in live shows and events. Serving as a liaison between guests and Character performers, the position demands strict adherence to safety protocols outlined in the Special Events Character Handling Guidelines to ensure the well-being of both performers and guests. Performers must confidently lead shows by following scripts and using improvisation to captivate audiences, often involving interaction with children and large groups.
The job entails physical endurance, as performers are required to wear bulky costumes for extended periods while maintaining specific size and weight standards. The role also includes the responsibility of preparing show equipment, cleaning, and maintaining recreational supplies. Performers must be able to work amid noisy environments, large crowds, and sometimes in dark or confined spaces, demonstrating manual dexterity and physical agility.
Beyond performance duties, the Entertainment Performer is expected to uphold Marriott International’s high standards of professionalism, including maintaining a clean and professional appearance, protecting company assets, and ensuring guest safety. The role involves proactive communication, assisting guests with disabilities, and responding appropriately during emergencies. This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities but values previous experience in customer service, public performance, acting, and entertainment, especially with children and large audiences.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a minimum of one year in customer or sales roles, and certifications in CPR and First Aid. The successful candidate will embody the spirited and inclusive culture of Gaylord Hotels by embracing the opportunity to deliver exceptional service and create memorable experiences for guests. Joining Gaylord Hotels means becoming part of a renowned hospitality network that prioritizes career advancement, diversity, and an engaging workplace culture, perfect for individuals who aspire to perform at their best and grow professionally.
