Job Description

Friends of Switchpoint is a respected non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals, families, and veterans in Utah who face poverty and homelessness. Established in 2014, this organization has been a beacon of hope and support, with a mission centered on empowering those in need by addressing the underlying causes of poverty. Friends of Switchpoint provides a comprehensive support system and tailored plans that help individuals on their journey to self-sufficiency. The organization envisions a future where every individual feels valued and restored with self-esteem, hope, and the capability to thrive in affordable housing.

Friends of Switchpoint operates a variety of programs to create meaningful connections and provide essential resources. Among these programs is the Stepping Stones Childcare Center, an innovative child development center offering early childhood care and education to children from birth to twelve years old. Uniquely, the center operates 24/7 to accommodate the diverse schedules of working families, ensuring that all parents have access to safe, high-quality child care regardless of their work hours. The childcare center prides itself on providing a warm, safe, nurturing, and professional environment where children can flourish under attentive care.

The role available within this organization is that of a Part-Time Childcare Receptionist. This vital position serves as the first point of contact for children, families, and guests visiting the childcare center. The ideal candidate must embody professionalism and friendliness, possessing the ability to remain calm under pressure while multitasking effectively at the front desk, which includes handling phones, managing security doors, and maintaining computer systems. Additionally, the receptionist may act as the Director’s Designee when necessary and assist teaching staff in various administrative tasks. Flexibility and teamwork are highly valued as the position requires cooperation across a wide range of duties, including inventory management, record-keeping, and communication tasks.

Working hours for this part-time role span from Monday through Friday, 6 AM to midnight, with the possibility of weekend and holiday shifts to meet the needs of the families served. The starting wage for this position is $15 per hour, dependent on experience. Being an equal opportunity employer, Friends of Switchpoint emphasizes a diverse workforce and equal consideration for employment without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or veteran status.

Cultural values at Friends of Switchpoint highlight kindness, connection, kinship, self-worth, and self-reliance, guiding the organization’s approach to service and internal community. The guiding principles of the organization include treating all people with respect, striving for a positive influence on lives, authentic and transparent relationships, and leadership in innovative solutions to homelessness. These core beliefs shape the supportive culture where the Childcare Receptionist will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and welcoming atmosphere of the center.

Overall, this role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a community-focused mission aimed at ending homelessness and poverty while supporting families through practical childcare solutions. The successful candidate will be organized, discreet, computer-proficient, and eager to engage positively with children, families, and colleagues alike, helping to create an environment where every child is nurtured and every family feels supported.
