Job Description
Friends of Switchpoint is a reputable non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals, families, and veterans in Utah who are facing poverty and homelessness. Established in 2014, the organization has been a driving force in creating meaningful change within the community by offering comprehensive support programs aimed at empowering those in need. Friends of Switchpoint’s mission focuses on addressing the root causes of poverty by providing a detailed plan and the necessary resources to help individuals achieve self-sufficiency. Their vision is a community where every individual recognizes their inherent worth and value, fostering self-esteem, hope, and restored abilities, all thriving in affordable and stable housing environments.
With a strong foundation built on cultural values like kindness, connection, kinship, self-worth, and self-reliance, the organization nurtures a culture of empathy, support, and proactive leadership. These core principles guide every aspect of their services and internal operations. Their motto, "It Takes All of Us to End Homelessness," encapsulates their belief in collective responsibility and community collaboration.
The role of Childcare Receptionist is a part-time position operating Monday through Friday, between 6 a.m. and midnight, with possible work on weekends and holidays. The position is located in the Stepping Stones childcare center, a subsidiary part of Friends of Switchpoint. This center is an innovative early childhood care and education facility serving children from birth to twelve years old. Open 24/7, it caters to working families with varied schedules, aiming to provide a warm, safe, nurturing, and exceptionally high-quality environment for children.
The Childcare Receptionist serves as the professional first point of contact for the center, greeting children, families, and visitors with a friendly and calm demeanor, even under pressure. This role requires outstanding multitasking abilities, including handling phones, managing security doors, and operating the intercom system. The receptionist supports the teaching staff and acts as the Director Designee when necessary. Flexibility and a willingness to work collaboratively as a team member are essential qualities, as the role contributes to the overall smooth functioning and supportive atmosphere of the childcare center.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining confidential records and paperwork, managing phone communications professionally, screening visitors discreetly, and assisting with inventory and ordering office supplies. The candidate will also be expected to complete and maintain compliance documentation, provide assistance with mailings, and help the Director and Assistant Director as needed. This role demands professionalism, empathy, strong organizational skills, and a friendly, approachable persona. The starting wage is $15 per hour on a dependent on experience basis. Candidates must pass a Utah Child Care Licensing Background Check and stay current with all necessary certifications and training.
