Located in a supportive environment, the district emphasizes the importance of a holistic education that prioritizes both skill acquisition and emotional resilience. The mission focuses on partnering with families and the wider community to ensure every student has the necessary tools to reach their full potential and succeed beyond their school years. The district's vision is to provide a high-quality learning atmosphere that is inclusive, safe, and nurturing, encouraging students to explore and pursue their individual paths and aspirations with confidence and determination.
The role of Child Nutrition Worker within the Orcutt Union School District is integral to supporting the district's mission by ensuring that students receive healthy, well-prepared meals in a hygienic and efficient manner. Under the supervision of assigned personnel, the Child Nutrition Worker carries out a variety of duties that contribute to the smooth operation of food service in schools. These include preparing, washing, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and other foods, setting up serving areas, serving meals to students and staff according to scheduled times, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions throughout food prep and service areas. This role is essential for guaranteeing that nutritional standards are met and that all meals served are safe and appealing to students. Operating kitchen equipment safely, weighing and measuring food portions accurately, selling lunch tickets, and assisting in preparing additional food items such as salads, desserts, and sandwiches are also key responsibilities of this role.
This position requires attention to health and safety regulations, including sanitation practices critical in a school kitchen environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a cooperative spirit, the ability to work within set schedules, follow oral and written instructions, and handle cash transactions responsibly. Additionally, the role involves some physical demands such as lifting, standing for long durations, and manual dexterity for operating kitchen machinery. The Child Nutrition Worker also helps transport food to satellite schools as assigned, ensuring that all students within the district have access to nutritious meals.
Overall, this position offers a chance to contribute directly to the well-being of students by supporting a fundamental aspect of their daily school experience—mealtime. It’s an important role that blends customer service, food preparation, and operational support within one of the district’s critical service areas. The Orcutt Union School District values employees who are committed to the education system's broader goals and work diligently to uphold its standards and mission.
