Job Description
The Town of Windsor is a vibrant municipality dedicated to providing quality recreational and community services to its residents. Recognized for its commitment to excellence and community well-being, the Town of Windsor operates various centers and programs aimed at enriching the lives of its citizens. As part of this mission, the Community Recreation Center (CRC) offers diverse recreational opportunities and supportive childcare services to assist families and individuals in enjoying their leisure time safely and conveniently.
The CRC-Expansion Division plays a critical role within the Town of Windsor's Recreation Department by managing and facilitating childcare operations at the Community Recreation Center. This division is focused on offering a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children while their parents participate in recreation activities or classes offered by the center. The Child Care Worker position in this division is an integral part of the team, responsible for maintaining the safety, supervision, and positive experience of children aged 12 months through 9 years.
This position is part-time and offers a hiring wage range of $15.32 to $16.28 per hour, depending on the applicant's skills and qualifications, with work hours up to 19 per week. The schedule may vary based on the needs of the center and department to ensure adequate care and support for guests. The role does not carry supervisory responsibilities, but Child Care Workers will work under the direct supervision of the Child Care Supervisor and report to the Membership Coordinator.
The primary focus of the Child Care Worker is to provide a safe, positive, and fun environment for children. This includes direct interaction through play, supervision on the indoor and outdoor playgrounds, enforcing childcare policies, and communicating effectively with parents and guardians. Attention to detail is crucial, as Child Care Workers are responsible for monitoring the condition and cleanliness of toys and equipment, assisting children with basic needs such as restroom assistance and comfort for upset children, and maintaining accurate records related to the children in their care.
In addition to childcare duties, the role includes essential customer service functions, greeting and assisting families, answering questions regarding policies, and promoting positive relations with all participants. Child Care Workers must also be vigilant in observing facility use and reporting any issues or emergencies to supervisors, ensuring adherence to community center policies, and assisting with cleaning and maintenance tasks within the childcare area.
The position demands physical activity consistent with medium work, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and to engage in movements such as stooping, kneeling, walking, and reaching. This role is safety-sensitive, emphasizing the importance of personal and public safety. Employees must demonstrate patience, good judgment, and effective communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a culturally diverse environment.
