With a mission to shape futures and provide high-quality care, Bright Horizons values its team members as essential contributors to the well-being and success of the children and families it serves.
As a Cook at Bright Horizons, you will play an instrumental role in creating healthy and enjoyable food experiences for young children in an early education setting. This position involves planning and preparing nutritious, family-style meals that support children’s health, growth, and learning milestones. Your daily contributions will help establish consistent, warm routines for children, educators, and center staff, reinforcing a nurturing environment where children can thrive. Working Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm with no nights or weekends, this role offers a balanced schedule that respects your work-life harmony.
In this role, you’ll follow approved menus and nutritional guidelines designed specifically for children’s dietary needs, ensuring every meal is both wholesome and appealing. Attention to food safety, allergy management, and sanitation is paramount to maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment. You will also be responsible for managing inventory, placing orders through approved vendors, and collaborating closely with center staff to facilitate smooth daily meal services. Your expertise in food preparation and kitchen organization ensures that the center meets all health procedures and regulatory standards.
Bright Horizons offers a competitive hourly wage for this role, ranging from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This compensation reflects the company’s appreciation for your skills and dedication to enhancing the well-being of children. Additionally, the organization provides a wide array of benefits designed to support your health, financial security, and professional growth.
Joining Bright Horizons means becoming part of a supportive and inclusive community where you can grow professionally and make a real difference every day. The company encourages ongoing learning and development opportunities, including career advancement programs and free college degrees through their Horizons CDA & Degree Program. Moreover, Bright Horizons promotes a positive, respectful workplace culture where diversity is celebrated and accommodations for disabilities or pregnancy-related needs are thoughtfully handled.
Physical requirements for this role include lifting and carrying food supplies up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and performing repetitive kitchen tasks. Attention to safety and emergency responsiveness is also essential to protect both children and staff in the center. The detailed physical demands are available for review on the Bright Horizons careers site, ensuring transparency and clarity for prospective employees.
This position also mandates compliance with all relevant immunizations, employment physical screenings, and health and safety training as per federal, state, local, and company policies. Bright Horizons is committed to workplace safety and ensures all employees are fully prepared to foster a secure and healthy early education environment.
Overall, the Cook role at Bright Horizons is a fulfilling opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children’s nutrition and well-being within a structured, professional early education setting.
