Job Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
- Obtain food handler certification within 30 days of hire
- Pass required state and company background checks
- Comply with all applicable immunization, physical screening, and health and safety training requirements
- Ability to lift and carry food and supplies typically weighing 10 to 40 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen tasks
- Maintain mental and physical alertness to respond promptly to emergencies
- Work in person at an early education/preschool child care center
- Follow Bright Horizons' policies and procedures to ensure safety of children and staff.
Job Qualifications
- Pass required state and company background checks
- Meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements
- Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
- Obtain food handler certification within 30 days of hire
- Coursework or certification in Nutrition preferred
- Experience in food service within childcare centers, school cafeterias, commercial kitchens, or high-volume food service settings preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills.
Job Duties
- Plan and prepare balanced, family-style meals and snacks following approved menus, nutritional guidelines, and daily attendance counts
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen by following food safety, allergy management, sanitation, and health procedures
- Manage food and supply inventory, place orders through approved vendors, and partner with center staff to support smooth daily meal service
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, Bright Horizons, and client site health and safety policies
- Support the overall goals of the center by contributing to a positive environment for children and staff
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate meal preparation and service
- Perform routine kitchen cleaning tasks and assist with maintaining kitchen equipment.
