Job Description
Join a supportive and dedicated community at Learning Care, where the primary focus is on caring for children and families every day. Learning Care is a renowned childcare company that values its employees as its greatest asset. This company emphasizes creating a positive work environment, listening to the needs of its staff, and offering comprehensive benefits to ensure work-life balance and professional growth. The team at Learning Care is composed of passionate individuals working together to nurture and educate children in a safe and stimulating environment.
As a Child Care Cook, also known as a Food Specialist, you will play a vital role in the health and well-being of the children enrolled in the center. This position involves preparing nutritious meals and snacks daily, adhering to menu requirements set by the school director while complying with USDA guidelines, and federal and state health regulations. You will be responsible for creating home-style meals within the budget and nutritional guidelines, ensuring children receive balanced and wholesome food to fuel their learning and playtime activities. This role requires adaptability to menu changes and efficient time management to meet meal and snack schedules consistently.
The Food Specialist will not only handle food preparation duties but also maintain inventory, ensuring that food supplies are well-stocked and ordered promptly. Additionally, this role involves assisting classrooms as needed, acting as an assistant teacher or floater, supporting the childcare team and contributing to a collaborative and friendly work atmosphere. This position offers more than just a job; it’s a journey of learning, growing, and thriving in an environment where care and development are prioritized for children and team members alike.
Learning Care supports employees with a competitive package, including a minimum 50% childcare discount, immediate access to benefits, innovative health programs, and a company match on 401(k). Employees enjoy flexible schedules without nights or weekends, paid time off, and the unique benefit of bringing their children to work if needed. Opportunities for professional development are abundant through tuition reimbursement, credential assistance, ongoing training, and the Master Teacher Program, all designed to invest in the future of each team member.
If you have experience in cooking or food preparation within a childcare setting, a willingness to learn and comply with regulations, and the flexibility to accommodate the work schedule, this role offers a fulfilling career path. Employment is contingent on successfully passing Florida's required background screening. Learning Care is committed to equal employment opportunity and does not discriminate on various legally protected statuses.
