As the company continues to grow, it is expanding its shipboard management team for an exciting 2026 season, emphasizing superior service and operational excellence. The employment opportunity is full-time and exempt, offering an attractive competitive daily rate along with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans with company matching, as well as covered expenses such as travel, room and board, uniforms, and training.
The Chief Hotel Operations Manager plays a pivotal leadership role aboard American Cruise Lines vessels, serving as the primary architect of exceptional guest experiences through exemplary hotel operations. This position commands oversight of all hospitality functions including the management of food service, housekeeping, guest services, and the overall hotel management team aboard newly constructed ships. As a senior leader, the Chief Hotel Operations Manager will supervise department heads such as the Assistant Hotel Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Restaurant Manager, Cruise Director, Excursions Director, Executive Chef, and Guest Service Coordinator. They will ensure compliance with company procedures and service standards, uphold cleanliness and operational excellence, and directly engage with guests to guarantee that every interaction meets the brand’s high expectations.
This role demands strong capability in managing diverse teams, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment, and driving operational performance while maintaining quality and safety standards. With responsibilities encompassing crew orientation, discipline, scheduling, and appearance, the Chief Hotel Operations Manager is crucial in maintaining a motivated and professional hotel staff. Additionally, they are tasked with monitoring food service quality, coordinating ordering of supplies, handling financial transactions related to hotel services, and contributing to sales goals alongside ship officers.
The successful candidate must be willing to live and work aboard a vessel for extended periods, adapting to the dynamic maritime environment characterized by distinct ship motions. The role requires substantial physical stamina and the ability to work long shifts, often up to 14 to 15 hours daily during six to eight week intervals at sea, followed by one to two weeks off. Professionalism, a positive attitude, and determination to succeed are essential qualities, along with the ability to pass US Coast Guard pre-employment drug screening and hold a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
