Job Description
American Cruise Lines is the largest USA flagged cruise line, dedicated to offering unique and intimate small ship cruise experiences on vessels carrying up to 200 passengers. Operating exclusively within the United States, the company prides itself on showcasing the scenic and cultural richness of America's waterways. With a commitment to superior hospitality and a personalized approach to cruising, American Cruise Lines has established a reputation for excellence in delivering memorable journeys. As it expands its fleet and prepares for an exciting 2026 season, the company is seeking talented and motivated professionals to join its shipboard management team.
The Chief Hotel Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership role aboard American Cruise Lines' newly constructed vessels. This position is responsible for orchestrating exceptional guest experiences through high standards in hospitality, customer service, housekeeping, and food service operations. As the primary face of American Cruise Lines to guests, the Chief Hotel Operations Manager leads the hotel management team and ensures all departments operate seamlessly and in compliance with company policies and service standards. The role demands a dynamic leader capable of fostering teamwork, maintaining operational excellence, and driving guest satisfaction to new heights.
In this role, the Chief Hotel Operations Manager supervises key department heads such as the Assistant Hotel Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Restaurant Manager, Cruise Director, Excursions Director, Executive Chef, and Guest Service Coordinator. The individual ensures accountability throughout the management team by reinforcing company standards and operational procedures. Proactivity in addressing guest and crew needs, timely resolution of issues, and engaging directly with guests during onboard events are integral duties. Maintaining food quality and menu adherence, managing financial aspects of hotel services, and overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of passenger areas are also critical responsibilities.
Working on board requires flexibility and resilience in a maritime environment, with readiness to function effectively during extended travel cycles of six to eight weeks onboard followed by short periods off. The role involves working 7 days a week during the onboard period, often in shifts lasting up to 15 hours, which requires physical stamina and the ability to adapt to the ship's movements. American Cruise Lines offers an attractive daily rate for this full-time exempt role, along with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with matching, and coverage of travel, room, board, uniforms, and training expenses.
This position not only offers the chance to contribute to a uniquely American cruising experience but also provides opportunities for professional growth within a supportive and expanding company. The Chief Hotel Operations Manager’s leadership directly influences the company’s mission to deliver unforgettable cruise experiences characterized by genuine hospitality, attention to detail, and operational excellence.
