Job Description
The Holiday Inn New Orleans Airport North, situated at 1300 Veterans Blvd, is a prominent hotel that offers comfortable accommodation and comprehensive services to travelers and guests visiting the New Orleans area. As part of the globally recognized Holiday Inn brand, this establishment prides itself on delivering quality hospitality experiences supported by excellent facilities and dedicated staff. The hotel caters to both business and leisure travelers by providing a welcoming environment alongside essential amenities such as meeting spaces, dining options, and close proximity to the airport. Its location makes it an ideal choice for visitors seeking convenience and comfort in New Orleans.
We are currently hiring for the position of Chief Engineer. This important role involves overseeing the maintenance of the entire hotel facility, including the physical structure, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. The Chief Engineer is tasked with ensuring that the hotel operates smoothly and remains attractive by upholding high standards of upkeep and complying with energy conservation and preventive maintenance protocols. Additionally, responsibilities include managing all rehabilitation, expansion, and special projects that enhance the hotel’s infrastructure and guest experience.
This leadership position requires an individual who not only possesses strong technical skills and thorough understanding of engineering systems but also excels in managing a team and communicating effectively with both technical staff and hotel management. The Chief Engineer plays a crucial role in preserving a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for guests and employees alike. This includes ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, overseeing safety and life support systems, and maintaining internal standards for property condition and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience in a journey mechanic or engineer role within a Class A hotel or related industry, coupled with a minimum of two years in a senior engineering capacity. Advanced education or apprenticeship training in operating engineering is preferred, along with any relevant licenses such as an electrician’s license and EPA certification for handling refrigerants. Physical stamina and the ability to manage heavy work tasks are essential, given the demands of the role.
Beyond technical expertise, the Chief Engineer must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and the capacity to lead a team in delivering superior maintenance services. The role also calls for excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to translate complex technical information into understandable terms for various stakeholders. Multilingual abilities are considered an advantage in interacting with diverse teams and guests.
This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the overall guest experience by ensuring the hotel’s facilities are maintained at peak efficiency and safety standards. The Chief Engineer will actively participate in budgeting, vendor contract management, and energy conservation initiatives, reaffirming the hotel’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainability. If you are a proactive leader with a passion for hospitality and engineering management, this is a rewarding career opportunity to make a tangible impact at the Holiday Inn New Orleans Airport North.
