As a distinguished hotel brand within the Marriott portfolio, Gaylord Hotels emphasizes creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedicated, big-hearted service from its team members, known as STARs. Located at 2812 Opryland Dr, Nashville, Tennessee, Gaylord Nashville offers a vibrant setting where associates can grow well beyond traditional hotel career paths. This position is full-time management-level employment, with an annual pay range of $79,000 to $108,000, and is eligible for bonuses. Relocation assistance is available, underscoring the company's commitment to attracting top talent for this critical role.
The Assistant Engineering Manager role at Gaylord Nashville is a comprehensive, multifaceted position designed to support the management of the hotel's physical infrastructure. This includes oversight of critical systems such as equipment maintenance, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems. The role involves assisting with budget management, capital expenditure projects, preventive maintenance programs, and energy conservation initiatives, ensuring efficient and economical facility operations. A central component is maintaining regulatory and safety compliance, requiring familiarity with the relevant certifications and standards. This position also plays an essential role in emergency response, helping lead the team during any facility-related emergencies.
In addition to technical responsibilities, the Assistant Engineering Manager supports the broader operational goals by ensuring that the property maintains the highest standards of safety, appearance, and performance. This includes regular inspections and coordination of service contracts, as well as managing against a backdrop of guest hospitality excellence. The candidate works collaboratively with external stakeholders, including city building and zoning departments, fire prevention bureaus, and vendors, to foster positive relationships that support the property’s success.
A strong emphasis is placed on leadership and human resources responsibilities within this role. The individual is expected to participate in interviewing, selecting, and training employees while providing ongoing performance appraisals. The role requires someone who can establish clear guidelines and expectations for their team, promote a respectful and secure working environment, and contribute to staff development and retention. The position demands a hands-on approach to monitoring attendance, productivity, and compliance with operational standards.
Candidates for this role must either hold a high school diploma or GED combined with at least 10 years of relevant experience and technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related field along with five years of relevant experience. Additionally, certification as a Coast Guard Chief Engineer Limited 2000 HP or higher is required, highlighting the need for specialized maritime engineering credentials in some operational capacities.
Gaylord Hotels offers a supportive and inclusive work environment where diversity is celebrated, equal opportunities are provided, and unique backgrounds are valued. Joining Gaylord means becoming part of a global team with endless opportunities for career advancement and personal growth, supported by the resources and extensive network of Marriott International. The company encourages associates to bring their best selves to work, fostering a culture of excellence, passion, and purpose at every level.
