Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized hospitality company that operates a broad portfolio of hotels and lodging facilities, renowned for its commitment to exceptional guest service and employee development. As a leader in the hospitality industry, Marriott emphasizes creating memorable experiences for guests while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for its associates. The Courtyard brand, part of Marriott International, was designed specifically to serve the needs of business travelers, blending comfort, functionality, and efficiency. Courtyard hotels focus on providing an atmosphere that empowers guests whether they are traveling for business or leisure, ensuring a seamless stay through attentive service and quality amenities. Marriott International’s dedication to inclusion and diversity, equal opportunity, and non-discrimination reflects its commitment to building a workforce that embraces a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and viewpoints, supporting growth and innovation across its properties.

The position offered is a key role within the engineering and maintenance team at a Courtyard hotel, where the primary responsibility involves responding to and managing guests’ repair requests and maintaining the property’s multiple physical systems. This role demands a professional with a broad skill set in maintenance and repair, including expertise in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and general building management. The candidate is expected to perform preventative maintenance, carry out routine inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment, and address safety issues promptly while adhering strictly to safety protocols such as Lockout/Tagout procedures. They are also responsible for maintaining inventory, coordinating with vendors and contractors, and communicating effectively with team members and guests. A sound understanding of building systems, ability to interpret blueprints and schematics, and the use of engineering software related to preventive maintenance and energy management are essential.

Importantly, this role encourages continual learning and professional development, offering the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and assume supervisory responsibilities during absence of higher management. The successful candidate will be someone who not only brings advanced mechanical and technical skills but also demonstrates exceptional customer service attitude, teamwork, and communication abilities. The role involves physical activity including lifting, bending, and working in various on-site environments, consistent with the demands of a full engineering maintenance role in a busy hospitality setting. Marriott International supports its engineers with ongoing training and certifications, ensuring their skills remain aligned with current standards and local and national codes. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional eager to contribute to a dynamic team committed to excellence in hospitality facilities management.
